God of Creation, To the one who others say is love. The earths groans, Our hearts ache. As we head further into climate breakdown.
We don’t know how to pray, Words like fog can hide our fear.
A fear that our world, A fear that our faith, Is falling apart.
We hear your whisper ‘Be honest, Be true, Be Vulnerable’
In our fragility, In our pain, We break silence.
‘Where are you now? As fire and floods increase.
Where were you? When the town was destroyed?
My God, My God have you forsaken us? As global temperatures continue to rise.
Jesus, will you wake up? And speak the words “Be Still”’
Father of Creation, God of Compassion, The Spirit groans, Our Hearts Ache. As we head further into climate breakdown.
We don’t know how to pray. Words like fog can hide our fear.
And yet, We dare to believe, & You give us courage to hope,
That you have revealed your love to us in Jesus, That the darkest day is not the final day. That one day you will calm the raging sea.
And so while we wait, With fear, Tears, & Questions.
Come Holy Spirit, And Comfort Us.
Come Holy Spirit Grant us Courage.
Come Holy Spirit, Awaken your church.
Amen.
