Love in the Twilight: A Poem

In the twilight of a fractured world,

love looks like something—

plunging light into the caverns of our souls.

Love

whispers in forgotten corners,

shouts in lonely places,

and dances in the dark.

Love

is raw with compassionate wildness,

ripping through barriers,

crossing boundaries.

healing those who thought all was lost.

Never envious, never proud,

walking humbly,

abiding quietly.

Rejoicing in truth,

bearing all things,

believing, hoping,

enduring.

Agape,

patient,

kind,

generous,

an unbroken thread,

weaving its way into this dog-eat-dog world.

In the chaos of life,

tongues may fall silent,

knowledge may fade,

but love—

remains,

it never fails.

Love

stands for justice in the public square

a friend of truth,

a catalyst for hope,

while in the quiet chambers of the heart,

love

tenderly tends to wounds,

with gentle hands.

Jesus, embodiment of love,

calms storms,

heals wounds,

feeds the hungry,

raises the dead.

On the cross,

love revealed,

In his resurrection,

Love wins.

Love isn't always gentle,

feeling the sting of sacrifice,

the burn of betrayal,

the ache of loss.

In every scar,

every tear,

Love may do its work,

Until the healing of all things.

In hugs shared, tears wept,

in listening ears,

shared food and serving hands,

love takes shape, embodied in action.

Yet many waters cannot quench love,

amidst chaos and tumultuous seas,

love stands firm,

a light upon a hill.

So let us love,

as He loved,

with every breath,

every thought,

in every act,

every day.

Love

conquers,

transforms,

it is the dawn,

the breaking of the night.
