The Wise Man’s Monologue
I have spent my life searching.
The stars have always fascinated me—their patterns, their meaning.
I have followed them for years, believing they hold clues to the mysteries of life.
But nothing prepared me for the night I saw that star.
It shone like no other—bright, steady, alive.
My companions and I knew it was no ordinary star.
It was a sign, a promise fulfilled.
The prophecies spoke of a king, born to bring light to the nations.
So, we packed our treasures and followed.
It was not an easy journey.
The road was long, the nights cold.
We faced uncertainty, danger, and doubt.
There were moments when we wondered if we were chasing a dream.
But the star never wavered, and neither did we.
When we arrived in Bethlehem, I expected to find a palace, servants, grandeur.
Instead, we found a humble home, a child held in his mother’s arms.
It was simple, ordinary. Yet, in that moment, I knew—we had found him.
We bowed before the child and offered our gifts.
Gold, for a king.
Frankincense, for a priest.
Myrrh, for the one who would suffer and save.
The world didn’t yet know who he was, but I did.
And so do you.
The light of that star is still shining, even now, leading all who are searching.
If you feel lost, weary, or unsure, look for the light.
It may lead you to unexpected places, but it will never lead you astray.
Prayer
God of the journey,
You guide us through the deserts and doubts, through the long nights of searching.
For those who feel lost or weary, light their path.
Give them courage to keep going, hope to trust in your promise,
And faith to follow you wherever you lead.
May they find, at the journey’s end, the peace of Christ,
Who is the light of the world.
In his name, we pray. Amen.
